I’m a proud Torontonian and I live in south Etobicoke. Must people don’t think about this place but there are so many great things around here. Just down the street is Lakeshore. This street stretches from Mississauga to all the way downtown Toronto. Humber College Lakeshore campus which is right near Lake Ontario and has an amazing campus. This campus has a bees’ nesting area, a lounge that replicates cottage country and older style buildings. These buildings have been in films and commercials and have tours of them. At any time, you can walk the campus grounds or go in and see the bees’ nest. There are even walking trails behind the campus that lead to the lake with amazing views. If you want you can even walk the entire trails that will lead you to the waterfront of downtown Toronto. I have walked the entire campus including the trails in the back which I highly recommend. Its even better when you go during the autumn when the trees are changing colours.

Originally built for an asylum in the 1800's these cottage style buildings were in fact built by the patients themselves. The patients were not paid for their work until the 1950's. The famous assembly hall was built for the patients to have a recreational area. In 1896, they built a cricket pitch and founded Mimico's first Cricket Club. In 1979, the doors to this hospital finally closed its doors. It wasn't until 1988 that the city declared it a heritage site. The assembly hall is used for community events and The Gatehouse is used for childhood victims of abuse. You can take tours of these grounds to get more information regarding the history of this campus in the link I have provided.

Here is the link to see the tours. https://www.lakeshoregrounds.ca/tours
