I am a big market person and I can tell all about the markets within Toronto. St. Lawrence market is the best in my opinion. It has all the meat, cheese and bakeries that one can want plus of course; fruits and vegetables. I love the bagels at St.Urbain Bagel bar which I get every time I go. It's usually the everything bagel with chive cream cheese and of course, cucumbers. Then I head across the street for the veggie market. My favourite area, I can get the likes of fall vegetables from squash, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, apples and kale. There are also flowers that are already arranged for you. Autumn is my favourite time of the year because I can get all different types of squash, beets and brussel sprouts. The bakery in the basement is great for sweet and savoury appetites. The tables outside are great in the summer time to get your treats then sit to enjoy the food or just people watch. This is a busy market so you might have to come early or walk around to finally get a spot. I eat my bagel either outside or in the basement at the tables. No matter what you will always find somewhere to sit.

St. Lawrence market use to be home to Toronto City Hall and jail in 1845-1899. It wasn’t until 1902 that the city of Toronto decided that it should be a market complex. This building consists of St. Lawrence Market North and St. Lawrence Hall. The market was renovated in 1972 to consist of what it is today. It is open Tuesday to Saturday in the main Hall, but the Market North is only open on Saturday for the farmers market. They have special events from tastings of St. Lawrence, craft beers tours on Thursday nights and many more. You can even have corporate events here with cooking classes. There are also walking tours.
